Difference between AC and HV power supplies for Nexus 7700

I am trying to determine the main differences between the N77-AC-3KW and N77-HV-3.5KW power supplies for the Nexus 7710.

They are both the same price but the HV type gives an additional 0.5KW power.

What are the advantages of using one of the over? Why wouldn't everyone order the N77-HV-3.5KW because more power for same price?

Mal,

From the datasheet, the N77-AC-3KW supports only nominal inputs of either 110 or 220 V, and is ~90% efficient. On the other hand, the N77-HV-3.5KW (datasheet) supports nominal inputs from 100 to 277 V, and is ~96% efficient. If they are the same price, then the HV is better in every way. One note, however: the HV PSU didn't have support until a more recent NX-OS version, so it may be intended to replace the other PSU.

Thanks. It says here - https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/nexus-7000-series-switches/data_sheet_c78-728736.html that "The smaller power supply [3.0-kW] configuration provides more flexibility and more detailed control in power provisioning", but in the datasheets I cannot find the 3.5-kW having less flexibility or differences in power privisioning. Would you be able to explain this?
