is there any reason why we need to use end command?
when we configure router or switch, we can input " do wr" at any time, but i do see people enter " end", then "wr", is there any difference?
if no difference, why we just use "do wr"

"End" is used to escape from "configure" (hostname(config)) mode back to "Enable mode" (hostname#).
When you're in 'configure' mode and try to run a command only available in 'enable' mode, you have to put the 'do' part in the front of the command. Such as 'do wr' or 'do sh run'.
When you're in 'enable' mode, you don't need the 'do' part so you just type 'wr'. Does that make sense?

no, you didn't answer.
I'm saying as a network engineer, we should use " do wr" instead of using "end, then wr", type one time rather than type two times

Hi Peter,
Bobby's answer is correctly its your choice which way want to use this after all both give same result. But still I will suggest its good practice to exist from config mode and they use executable command like wr.

Agree Bobbys answer is correct and as well you shouldn't be using wr its a legacy command deprecated that was supposed to be removed in v12 but somehow is still around , the current command is copy run start , both do the same thing but copy run start will always be there , wr could be removed in any release even though somehow its now in ios-xe and nx-os
