Dot1x Authetication between two cisco switch

We have two switches 2960X series and C1000 8 port series switch
C1000 port connect as dot1x supplicant to C2960X switch port act as authenticator
Dot1x authentication happening correctly and traffic also passing through. however on C1000 supplication port portocols stay down state. is it expected behavior and if show do have any document to address this.

My question is simple why supplicant port protocol stay down(protocol down) even authentiation is success and traffic is passing through on supplicant port.

This need to config between two SW to make c1000 send mac to 2960 and 2960 auth host connect to c1000.
