This may be a dumb question but I am going crazy trying to figure it out. I have a 2960s that I have purchased for my lab. I am used to dealing with 2960-x switches. This switch has lanlite but shows that lanbase can be enabled or installed.. How do I enable LANBASE on this switch? I have tried running the SDM commands, I have looked on software central to see if I need some kind of PAK.
I have googled this for a while and have come up with nothing.
This is what I get when I do show lice
BNB-SW-001#show lice

Index 2 Feature: lanlite

Hi,
It’s not possible to upgrade a 2960S switch from LAN Lite to LAN Base. The feature set is tied to the hardware model.
Please see the following
https://supportforums.cisco.com/sites/default/files/legacy/9/7/8/134879-Cisco%20Catalyst%202960%20and%202960-S%20Series%20Switches%20Q%26A.pdf
Q. Can a Cisco Catalyst 2960-S Series LAN Lite switch
be upgraded to LAN Base?
A. No. The feature set is bound to the hardware model. To get the features and capabilities of LAN Base, you must purchase a LAN Base switch.

Hi
Have you verified if the SDM prefer lanbase-routing is available on your switch?
show sdm prefer.
Hope it is useful

This is what the switch outputs when I run that command. I think the Issue is that the LanBasse is not there or I need a license maybe.
The current template is "default" template.
The selected template optimizes the resources in
the switch to support this level of features for
0 routed interfaces and 255 VLANs.
number of unicast mac addresses: 8K
number of IPv4 IGMP groups + multicast routes: 0.25K
number of IPv4 unicast routes: 8.375k
number of directly-connected IPv4 hosts: 8K
number of indirect IPv4 routes: 0.375k
number of IPv6 multicast groups: 0.25K
number of IPv6 unicast routes: 0.25K
number of directly-connected IPv6 addresses: 0.25K
number of indirect IPv6 unicast routes: 0
number of IPv4 policy based routing aces: 0
number of IPv4/MAC qos aces: 0.375k

It could be, but please execute the following command to verify the available templates on your switch:
conf t
sdm prefer ?

Hi, no you can't
Index 1 Feature: lanbase
Period left: 0 minute 0 second
There is you period left of lanbase license. there is not.
It just says that your hardware is capable to run a lanbase software. To make it happen, you can buy a lanbase license from cisco and than install a new IOS.
