End of life licensing

I was thinking about using a Cisco refurbished switch at home.

My understanding is the nexus series is end of life.

How would I go about using all the features in my home lab and future proofing?

How does licensing work?

Hello @jakerolporr

You should have the based license. For the features associated refer to Table.2 here :

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/nexus-3000-series-switches/data_sheet_c78-729483.html

LAN Enterprise license will provide advanced L3 IP routing.

Best regards

Unless you are buying the refurb switch from Cisco, or from a Cisco-authorized reseller, the seller of the used gear has no legal right to include the NX-OS software, nor can they transfer to you their own non-transferable license.

In any event, you will not be future-proofing by buying End of Sale hardware. Why not invest in PC CPU cores and RAM to run CML instead? CML provides relatively recent, licensed XE/XR/NXOS images, with newer images becoming available roughly every year.
