Hi
I have a cisco WS-C6509-E setup as a VSS pair. I am not clued up on the eol notices for these. Are the end of life notices on the chassis on the supervisor.
Chassis dates show
EndOfSales | EndOfContractRenewal | EndOfSupport |
Nov 1, 2006 | August 1, 2012 | Nov 30, 2012 |
Supervisor engine is a VS-S720-10G and dates show
July 31, 2015 | October 31, 2019 | July 31, 2020 |
So which dates would I go by. Is this unit eol. Can I purchase a new unit and use the existing supervisor card as the supervisor card dates are still in support.
Any help will be much appreciated

Was the EoL for the 6509 chassis for the -E or the non -E?

Actually having a second look, those are for the non-e.
So generally are eol dates for each module, for example on the 6509e can the eol be different for the chassis and different for the supervisor
Thanks

Last date of Support HW is 28 Feb 2018
You'll see VS-S720-10G listed

With the 6500 EoL notices can be for anything eg chassis, supervisor, power supplies etc.
So an EoL for a chassis doesn't mean anything in terms of EoL for any other components of the switch.
Believe me, when Cisco announce EoL on the E chassis there will probably be quite a few posts on here :-)

Hi,
You can still purchase 6900-E chassis. The EOL is probably for the sup.
