Hi,

I have a Novell server. It is connected to the interface g1/2 on 6506. According to LMS information (HUM application) int g1/2 has 2.77 Interface IN Errors (pkts/sec).

Below the statistics of this interface for 2 weeks:

15043278 packets input, 14151149930 bytes, 0 no buffer

Received 799 broadcasts (768 multicasts)

1152988 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles

1153048 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

0 watchdog, 0 multicast, 0 pause input

0 input packets with dribble condition detected

11763502 packets output, 2546442805 bytes, 0 underruns

0 output errors, 592572 collisions, 0 interface resets

0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred

0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier, 0 PAUSE output

0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

How to check why has 1153048 errors appeared and what is the reason of it ?

P.S. Novell server work on IP protocol.

we can see there are 592572 collisions.

so the problem seems to be related to duplex mode..

may be the server is working in half duplex. you can check it from sho interf g1/2.

can you manually configure your NIC to work in full duplex and force it also in the switch port?

Indeed. The Novell's administrator changed the duplex of NIC to full. Then I set speed 100 and duplex full on the interface. There is only 1 error for 30 minutes and there are no collisions.

Thank you.

not at all.

i am happy problem is resolved.

and thanks for using rating
