ERSPAN between Nexus 9300 and Catalyst 9500

Hello everybody,

I tried to implement a ERSPAN configuration between two Nexus 9300 and a Catalyst 9500.

Nexus Model: N9K-C93180YC-EX - Release: 7.0(3)I7(9)

Catalyst Model: C9500-40X - Release: 16.12.3a (bundle mode)

I configured on the Nexus an ERSPAN source session and on the Catalyst an ERSPAN destination session (receveing traffic from both Nexus). I see that the Nexus send the monitored traffic to the Catalyst, but then the Catalyst does not send it to the physical  port connected to the monitoring server. I tried both with ERSPAN Type II and Type III, and also I tried using only one Nexus as source, ma the issue is the same.

Do you have any suggestions about this?

Thank you!

Samuele

Did you ever figure this out?  I have a C9500 setup as erspan-destination.  I know it is receiving the traffic because as soon as I direct a erspan-source to it, the cpu process goes up.  But the C9500 won't dump the traffic on to the destination port.  I have a C9300 setup exactly the same and it works as a erspan-destination just fine.  Both are at the same firmware level of 17.12.04.  Only difference is that on the C9300, IP ROUTING is off by default.  On the C9500 I turned IP ROUTING off.  It shouldn't affect the erspan capability.  (note; I am using the C9500 for its VSS capability between two data centers)

C9500#show capability feature monitor erspan-destination
ERSPAN Destination Session:ERSPAN Destination Session Supported: TRUE
Maximum No of ERSPAN destination session: 8
ERSPAN Header Type supported: II and III
