Hi Folks,
In particular what does the state I mean with respect to etherchannel. See this example.
Flags: D - down P - in port-channel
I - stand-alone s - suspended
H - Hot-standby (LACP only)
R - Layer3 S - Layer2
U - in use f - failed to allocate aggregator
u - unsuitable for bundling
w - waiting to be aggregated
d - default port
Number of channel-groups in use: 1
Number of aggregators: 1
Group Port-channel Protocol Ports
------+-------------+-----------+-----------------------------------------------
1 Po1(SU) PAgP Gi1/0/3(P) Gi1/0/5(I)
Gi1/0/5 is in state I (stand-alone) what exactly does this mean? Is it an active bundle member? or something else?
TIA

Alan,
(I)typically means that the subject port could not join the channel-group. Can you send a config snap of both interface configs?
There might be a misconfig on the Gi1/0/5 interface.
What box/OS is this on? Will show channel-group show anything?
How about logging? Any messages relating to "cannot join group"?

Thanks for the feedback Bill, in fact the problem I have is known and expected. The scenario is that I have a L2 bridge in between the two ports of the etherchannel. When I lose one of the links, the port remote from the failure, goes into this mode, but it just wasn't clear what exactly it means. It seems to me that its saying it is ready to join the channel but cannot as the peer is not responding as it cannot see any PAGP frames from the peer.

Where can I find descriptions of the flags various meanings?
