If a core and access switch have different etherchannel load balance methods, will the mismatch cause errors or performance issues?

e.g

Core src-dst-ip

Access src-mac

Errors no.  Performance perhaps, but not due to the "mismatch" but might be due to suboptimal hash algorithm.

BTW, in ye olden times, optimal hash selection often required different "mismatched" choices.

Mark,

The algoritm is applied in the outbound direction only - they do NOT need to match. There is no negative impact in my experience. Only the flows may not look as symetrical as you might expect. I recently made this change on a network and have had no issues since.

Regards

Stephen
