Hello

I have a 2 X 9500 switch as a distribution switch separated in Data center 1 and 2 by virtual stack link between them, and 9300 on access layer on site 1, I want to build a ether channel between them

The length between Site 1 to DC1 is   30KM so i m using GLC-EX-SMD and for the DC2 which is approximately 60KM so i m using ZX, But my question is i can form ehterchannel between 9300 and 9500 with different SFP types ( EX,ZX)

Please answer.

technically i do not see the issue here, as long as they are the same speed and capacity. distance not matter here.

Dear Balaji

SO u are confirming that they will work, the interfaces with different type's will not make any issue.

Can you elaborate on the below lines the word here " SAME TYPE" what that does mean  ??

  • Configure a PAgP EtherChannel with up to eight Ethernet ports of the same type.

  • Configure a LACP EtherChannel with up to 16 Ethernet ports of the same type

SFPs operate in Layer 1.
For as long as the link is up/up, then it should be fine.

  • Configure a PAgP EtherChannel with up to eight Ethernet ports of the same type.

  • Configure a LACP EtherChannel with up to 16 Ethernet ports of the same type. same type means same duplex and speed for all links. So, you can't mix 1 gig and 10 gig links together but as other also said, SFPs are layer-1 and so it should work in your case just fine.
