Can  we bundle a gbic port by reducing its speed to 100 mbps which is equal to speed of fast Ethernet with fast eathernet port?

Never tried such odd configuration, but according to Cisco, I think it's not possible even if the speed match:

"Channels must be composed of contiguous ports from  the same port group. A channel cannot have some ports from one group  and some ports from another"

That is a very old document you are using covering the 5000 switch. The above does not apply to devices such as the 6500 these days, ie. you don't have to worry about port groups or even if the channel is spread across different linecards.

As long as the 1Gbps port can be set to 100Mbps then yes you can do this. Etherchannel requires that all ports run the same speed/duplex only, ie. it doesn't care what the speed capabilities of the port are.

Jon, thanks for clarification, this is useful and you have my ratings , but I still stick to my point at least a little bit, as the platform was not specified in the intial request and you'll be surprised what oldies but goldies are in some networks.

P.S. I don't know if Cat5000 even supported Gbic modules

I probably wouldn't be that surprised, trust me. You are right it could be a 5000 but the way you wrote it seemed to imply this applied to etherchannel on all switches which it clearly doesn't. I just wanted to make sure the OP understood that the restriction you mentioned did not apply to all switches.
