Facing issue in STP

Hi All,

What will happen if the cable breaks between the switches Root-bridge and Non Root-bridge ?

Hello @Ritin Singh ,

if you are using a traditional STP network, if a link fails, it can take up to 50 seconds for the STP algorithm to converge and re-route traffic. With RSTP, this time is reduced to less than 10 seconds. RSTP accomplishes this by using a more efficient algorithm, and by defining new port states that allow for faster recovery.

Hello @Ritin Singh,

If the cable breaks between the Root Bridge and Non-Root Bridge switches in a spanning tree network, the spanning tree algorithm will detect the link failure and initiate the process of reconverging the network.

The specific behavior during a link failure in a STP network depends on the version of the spanning tree protocol being used (STP, RSTP, MSTP,...).

STP "does its thing" as it does for any cable break within the STP topology.

Could you be more specific/descriptive in the "issue" you're "facing" within STP?
