Facing slowness problem in inter and intra vlan network.

Hi Guys.

We are using 2 Nexus 5010 switches and 10 N2248TP fex in our network. From last couple of days we are facing slowness of speed while transferring the data between servers of same vlan and other vlan also. we just upgraded the NX-OS of the N5K, from 4.2 to 5.0. I also check the reliability at both ends N5K and core switch end. Reliabilty at N5K is 255, but at 6500 end it is varying.

One of my friend also suggest to me capture the traffic on the port of N5K using packet sniffer but as far as i know it only support from port number 1 to 8 of N5K, but due to some problem we are not able to do that.

As you all know the ports are gig interfaces, I also checked the traffic on interfaces and it is showing in KBs, which is I think normal.

Please help me to get this resolve.

Let me know if you need more information.

Hi Rahul,

Please check if any of the uplink port might be operating at half-duplex.

For less reliability, do you see any interface errors?

You can also try changing the physical cable at 6500 end.

Is the CPU utilization ok ?

Regards,

Manjunath

Hi Manju

I checked the interface errors and it looks fine means there are less

interface errors. And I also check he cpu utilization at n5k end and it

also looks good.

But when I check the transceivers details on which the FEX are connected it

shows the low rx power which is near about -14 to -19 which should be below

-9 (i think).

If the reliability is less than 255 I would concentrate your efforts there.  Usually it will end up being a link issue of some type .  On the 6500 it means the input side is having issues if reliability is less than 255  .  Do a "show int count errors"  on the 6500 and see if you have any kind of errors on that port.
