Factory Reset on used Equipment

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently studying for my CCNA cert. I've been building my lab from bits bought on eBay & used Cisco dealers.

My question is regarding equipment that is still configured when it arrives. It still has all the administration set, so logins with passwords, etc..

How do I perform a factory reset on these units if I can't access the CLI?

Current gear list is:-

1x 2620 (with 2x WIC-2T for Frame Relay labs)

1x 2650 (with 1x WIC-2T)*

2x 1841 (no HWIC, need to find 2x WIC-2T, but currently using for LAN - LAN routing, trunking labs, etc)

2x Catalyst 2950T-24 Switches*

2x Catalyst 2950G-24 EI Switches (with 2x 1000Base-SX GBIC each)*

2x Catalyst 3550-12G EI Switch (with 6x 1000Base-SX & 2x 1000Base-T GBIC)

*Indicates units still configured from previous installation.

I'm also currently keeping my eyes open for a pair of Catalyst 3550 or 3560 Switches too.

I look forward to the responses, but if anyone else has any input on what additional bits would make a great CCNA / CCNP lab with the ability to expand to a CCIE lab, your comments would also be welcome.

Thanks,

- Ricki

Hi,

Start off with the password recovery process

You will need to find your specific type of kit from the list

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1831/products_tech_note09186a00801746e6.shtml

Once you are in and able to enable I suggest that you

erase start

All your boxes and

delete vlan.dat

On you switches too.

This should give yo a clean slate to work with

Alex
