Hello,
Is it possible with a command line to force the switch (2960/3650...) to register his own host name in the DNS with its IP @?

Hello,
No, it is not possible. The switch only sends resolution requests to the DNS.
You should configure the DNS manually for the switch hostname.
Cheers.

In this day and age of automation, having to manually add and remove network devices from DNS is time wasting and silly.
Not to mention the risk of finger trouble.
Especially when you have hundreds of devices on your network.
Cisco can really spend a bit of time and formulate a solution for this.
Cheers

Hi,
If you want to access the switch using a name or IP, you can just add an entry to your DNS server.
example:
Cisco-2960-access.<your domain>.com
192.168.1.1
