Hello
Fyi - a hosts l3 packet information is encapsulated into a l2 frame header which then can be delivered to its first hop either directly connected interface or flooded on the same switch or over to another switch onwards towards its destination.

MHM

I have 1 data vlan and management vlan on core switch. Management vlan configured on all access switches. Data vlan i.e., layer 2 vlan configured on all access switches. My question if end user who is at data vlan tried to reach gateway what kind of traffic it will be sent to core. I.e., frames or packets.

Sorry let other reply you

Thanks

Frames almost always have a packet as a frame's payload.  If a L3 hop is transited, e.g. your gateway, every L3 hop extracts the packet, determines where to send the packet next, and if allowed, places the packet into a new frame, or frames, and sends frame(s) to next L3 hop or final destination.

The key points of the above, 1) frames have a payload, usually a packet, 2) when transiting between L2 domains, received frame is discarded and new frame(s) constructed to forward payload.
