Hi,
I need to connect a 2950 to a 2924 using fiber. The 2924 has 100BaseFX connectors and I need to buy a GBIC for the 2950. I saw the following but don't know if either are compatible to connect to the 100BaseFX ports on the 2924:
WS-G5484 - 1000BASE-SX
WS-G5486 - 1000BASE-LX
Is anyone familiar with what GBICs will accomplish this? Thanks.

Hi,
I'm pretty sure that these GBICs only operate at 1000 Mbps. I have tried to hard-code interfaces with these GBIC transcievers down to 100, but it doesn't work. You may want to look into a media converter instead. You can get ones that convert from fastethernet to fiber.
Check out www.alliedtelesyn.com
They have a good selection of media converters.

I donot think it will work, though not 100% sure. You need to be careful in matching the fiber i.e. SX-SX, LX-LX.
