Hi guys

I have done some basic configuration i.e. created a couple of data vlans and assigned interfaces to them.

I have configured the router as a dhcp server. However the PC's are getting an APIPA address.

Please see PT file attached.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

You connect the PC to SW and assign VLAN 10 and VLAN 20
BUT you config the router without subinterface?
two solution
1- change the VLAN of PC to be VLAN 1
2- config Subinterface in router and config new DHCP Pool one for each VLAN

Hi thanks a lot for the suggestion. I'll configure the sub interface and create new pools.

On a different note, is there a way to delete the pools that I have created?

Hi Again

Sorry but I am having a hard time trying to get the configuration right. Just to clarify. Do I just need to configure the sub interfaces on the router in order to have the router hand out ip addresses or the switch needs to be configured as well?

Many thanks in advance

no ip dhcp pool

and for SW, you mean config

ip interface vlan X ?

if that what you ask for then

No, no need.

Hi

Firstly thanks so much for your support.

I am a bit lost now.

All I am trying to achieve is for "Sydney Router" to hand out IP address to vlan 10 20 and 30.

I started configuring the sub int for vlan 10 and I am getting an overlap. I posted a screenshot for reference as well as the PT file again.

Can you please have a look and tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks so much

Hi

I have an update

It looks like the router is correctly handing out the ip address for vlan 20 but I am still getting apipa for vlan 10 and 30.

I am also getting an overlap when I try to configure the sub interface for vlan 10. I am not sure why.

Attached is the PT and a screenshot of the overlap message I got.

If you could have a look and tell me what I am doing wrong that would be great.

Thanks so much in advance.

Last update. All good now. It's all fixed and it works a charm! Thanks so much for your help and suggestions. I have learnt so much!!! Cheers
