Getting BACNET to communicate between 2 VLANs

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how the best way to have 2 networks communicate with each other in separate VLANs.  I'm looking for configurations that work and have systems using BACNET broadcast to each other.

Hi ,

I have same problem too. I have a SG500 switch with layer 2 to layer3 conversion capability.

I have 2 vlan's created with different subnet namely 172.31.16.xx and 172.26.1.xx the devices on both subnet ping each other. But Bacnet/IP broadcast does not show up on subnet 2.

Is there any port forwarding or multicast setting to be considered on Cisco SG500-28 switch , please advice.

We are running into the same issue at our hospital now that we are moving our access switches to a l3 design instead of a l2 network with vlans stretched across multiple comm rooms. From what I'm reading, BACnet devices are supposed to be on the same network. If they needed interconnected, a BACnet router is needed for them to communicate. Still trying to find if Cisco routers have some sort of protocol that can be enabled to take care of this instead of purchasing separate vendor routers.

Edit: I found a link regarding Cisco and BACnet routers. Cisco makes a "mediator" in 2 sizes. There is a Cisco mediator 2400 that handles 1000 devices and a Cisco mediator 4800 that handles 5000 devices
