Getting WS-X6816-GBIC to register

Hello,

I am trying to get my WS-X6816-GBIC to work on my 6509 Chassis. I am currently using a WS-X6K-S2-MSFC2 which is in slot 1 on OS

cat6000-sup2k9.6-4-4a.bin. I believe I have the correct SFM card which is WS-C6500-SFM and it is in slot 6.  The X6816 cards are getting power but keep reseting it self with this error

"Module 7 reset from Software

2013 Mar 28 12:16:04 %SYS-5-MOD_NOREGISTRATION:No registration received from module 7... resetting module"

It keeps resetting it self like this.

What registration is it looking for?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

What DFC do you have on the 6816?

WS-F6700-DFC

You need to use a WS-F6K-DFC with that SFM and supervisor. The WS-F6700-DFC is for use with the sup 720.

Ah im sorry I gave you the wrong part number. The 6816 actually do have the WS-F6K-DFC on them.

There's your problem. 6816 is not supported in CatOS, you will need to change that bad boy over to native mode to use a 6816, vesion 12.2(17d)SXB or higher to be precise.
