Hi All,
My organization's network engineer has asked me to find out the port number which is connected to GigabitEthernet 3/0/2 & GigabitEthernet 4/0/9 respectively. I don't know out of 48 port on switch in our data center which one are these two (both port are on different switches). Please help me how I can I find them.
Thanks,
Raghav

Hi,
Not sure what type of switch you are using. If this is a stack of 3750 switches, 3/0/2 means the 3rd switch port 2 and 4/0/9 means 4th switch port 9. The ports are usually organized from left to right when you are facing the switch.

Hi Raghav,
I think below commands can help you in this situation.
1. Find the MAC address & VLAN ID by using the command
“SWITCH# show mac address-table interface Gi1/0/6”
2. Then Find the IP address by using the command
“CORESWITCH# show ip arp vlan <VLAN ID> | include <MAC ADD>”
“CORESWITCH# show ip arp vlan 20 | include 4437.e64c.0aed”
3. Then open the Command Prompt Run -> cmd
4. Find the Host name by using the command
"C:\Users\Administrator>nbtstat -a 10.0.2.8"
Please Find the attachment for detailed explanation.
