On Cisco 3850 switches, when configuring a port for Cisco IP phone, the built-in Auto-QoS is used. It's composed of service policies for input: AutoQos-4.0-Cisco-Phone-Input-Policy and for output: AutoQos-4.0-Output-Policy. So, when we want to add QoS for Skype (audio/video), which requries creating ACL's, policy maps, class-maps, etc, we cannot apply the acl's/class maps on the port because Auto-QoS service policy input/output ares already configured on the port and only one policy can be applied to a port.
So the only way I can see how to apply the QoS for Skype or any new qos for that matter, is create the required acl's, create the class maps, etc and add/configure those class maps into the input/output policy as part of the AutoQos-4.0-Cisco-Phone-Input-Policy and AutoQos-4.0-Output-Policy.
So, how do I add the new class map so it would be part of the input and output service policies in Auto-QoS.
Any ideas and suggestions?
Thanks
Cezar

HI Mark,
Thanks for the reply. We have to use the built-in auto-qos because it is optimised for our cisco ip telephony system. We are very careful in making any changes that would affect or impact our ip telephony system.
We have different flavours/versions of 3850's but the syntax for auto-qos is the same. We use in different offices, a pair of 4510, a stack of 3850 ver 03.06.05E and ver 16.3.7.
Can you point out on which class-map in ios-xe the qos for Skype is configured?
thanks

Hi skype uses AF41 and will mark packets as they leave source switch will honour them , EF for rtp voice is in priority queue while skype is AF41 in multimedia queue , all your switches are ios-xe so the auto qos should be near identical in layout in global config , you can see the queueing with show inter gx/x policy-map
The whole point of auto qos is it covers most general critical traffic so you should be already covered for RTP and video traffic anyway
