Our cabling contractor gives us a spreadsheet of room# and patch panel# in spreadsheet format. Working for a University we are always having new buildings pop up with many ports. In this case, we have 25 buildings with 1, 48 port switch in each. I received the spreadsheet and am looking for a way to grab the info off the spreadsheet to be able to turn into an automated script or something that will create a way to speed up the process of naming all these ports.
The ideal thing I would like to do is have something just do
int fa0/1
desc xxxxxx
int fa0/2
desc xxxxx
and so on.
Does anyone have any special tools/tricks they use when it comes to multiple port naming.
