Hi ,
How do I find interface to which an ifentry is associated with in Cisco IOS Catalyst switches ?
#sh snmp mib ifmib ifindex does not seem to work
As per information from the Cisco document , the command was introduced in IOS version 12.2(T) and higher
( http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/netmgmt/command/reference/nm_16.html#wp1093832)
The IOS version the switch I am working on is 12.0(5)
The relavant info from #sh ver is as given
Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
IOS (tm) C3500XL Software (C3500XL-C3H2S-M), Version 12.0(5)WC17, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Is there any way I can find that in an IOS prior to 12.2(T) ?

Anup

Hi,
I don't think you can get it from the CLI on that age of IOS, but if you snmpwalk the ifDescr OID (.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.2) from the Interface MIB with your management system you'll get the same information.

Thanks Steve for the information !
Unfortunately I don't have access to the management station .The Management station is managed by the L2/L3 :-/
All I have is the access to the CLI of the device but on privilege 15 :-)
