1. I have a remote switch that ssh was enabled but it looks like the keys were not generated. How can I get to that switch
tried telnet ssh http
2. How can there be a rename config file in the flash.

Hello James,
1) if the device is in the middle enabled only for ssh but with no keys configured I think someone has to access it in console to complete configuration or to disable ssh and allow for telnet on the vty
2) probably someone has made a copy of the configuration file some time ago
Hope to help

If it was restricted to ssh then you will have to manually do it thru the console via a dialup or a directly connected pc to the console.

Hi,
You need console access if SSH and Telnet is not properly configured.
Also if you have a file marked as renamed, it usually means there were a password recovery and you fallback to the express setup menu.

there are 2 different configs on those flash
how would I boot up with either flash config

The switch will use only config.txt file. That's why the extension is changed after a pw recovery so the swith will be with factory default settings meaning without any configuration. If you want to use the renamed config file, just remove the renamed extension by renaming the file to config.txt

Q: How can there be a rename config file in the flash?
A: Someone renamed the config.text file to config.text.renamed.
