Hi Emilio,
Can you post a "show module", "show power detail" and "show flash" from your 4500, which power do you need by port? poe capacity depends from your ethernet card and power supply.
Regards.

Hi Emilio,
Your line card WS-X4248-RJ21V only suport IEEE 802.3af that provides up to 15.4 W, do you need PoE + that provides up to 25.5 W of power?
What kind of devices will you connect?
Please rate useful information.
Regards.

Hi Emmanuel,
7915 & 7916 with expansion module.
Thanks for your help

Hi Emilio,
If you have your 796x powered by PoE you will need a power cube for 7915/7916 because you cannot powered both end points wih poe, you can check the folowing links:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/collaboration-endpoints/unified-ip-phone-expansion-module-7915/data_sheet_c78-468672.html
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/collaboration-endpoints/unified-ip-phone-expansion-module-7916/data_sheet_c78-468673.html
Table 7 shows the power requirements, for example you can power IP Phone with PoE and the expansion module with power cube, or powered the IP Phone with a power cube and the expansion module won´t requiere anything.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Regards.

Table 2. Cisco Catalyst 4500 Line Card PoE Options
Line-Card Type | Data Only (no PoE) | PoE (802.3af) | PoEP (802.3at) | UPOE |
Cisco Catalyst 4500 47xx E-Series Line Cards | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Cisco Catalyst 4500 46xx E-Series Line Cards | Yes | Yes | Yes | - |
Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series Classic Line Cards | Yes | Yes | Yes | -
|
There is nothing you can do. PoE+ is supported on 45XX line card and UP. This is not software driven it's hardware driven.
Based on your chassis, I suspect only the 45XX line card is supported. And, frankly, it ain't worth it.
You're better off trading in your old chassis for a newer one, like 4510R+E with Sup7E or Sup8 line card. This way if you've got a second unit you can enable VSS/Easy VSS.
