Hello Guys,

i do have one WS-C3850-24T-S where i have upgraded it to Everest 16.6.9.

But later i observed this image is affected by one of the PSIRT and switch upgrade is only one solution avaialbale.

My question is can we upgrade this to switch with image with smart license (16.12.x/16.9)

Actually in my network there is no any DNAC services running?

Also, lets say i upgraded switch to 16.12.x then what will be impact on switch/network if will not enable smart licensing?

Hi

"My question is can we upgrade this to switch with image with smart license (16.12.x/16.9)"

Upgrade the device and smart license are two different subject. Smart licensing is how you manage the devices licensing and you can or can not use it.

" Actually in my network there is no any DNAC services running?"

This should not be a question.  If you do have DNAC, you should know but DNAC is not a requirement.

"Also, lets say i upgraded switch to 16.12.x then what will be impact on switch/network if will not enable smart licensing?"

No impact. But unlicensed devices may prevent you do conduct a TAC along with Cisco, other then that, device will work properly.

What PSIRT is that?

16.6.X does not support Smart License but starting from 16.9.X supports CSL.

Going to 16.9.X (and later) is not a smart idea if the stack is not being monitored daily for memory leaks and CPU hogs due to Cisco Smart License.
