Implementing a L2TPV3 Tunnel on Catalyst 6500's

Hi All,

We are bringing up a new Data Center in a 2nd office seperated by MPLS

This DC would be a Disaster Recovery site and we want to replicate our existing DC

The two Data Centers are seperated via DS3's over MPLS

Is it possible to implement a L2TPV3 tunnel on our Catalyst switches?

They are both 6509's with the following:

WS-SUP720-BASE 2 ports Supervisor Engine 720 Rev. 3.1"

WS-SUP720 MSFC3 Daughterboard Rev. 2.2"

WS-F6K-PFC3A Policy Feature Card 3 Rev. 2.3"

WS-X6748-GE-TX CEF720 48 port 10/100/1000mb Ethernet Rev. 2.0"

WS-F6700-CFC Centralized Forwarding Card Rev. 2.0"

Cisco IOS Software, s72033_rp Software (s72033_rp-ADVENTERPRISEK9_WAN-M), Version 12.2(33)SXH3a, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Did you try using the Cisco supplied tool called the "feature navigator" to see if the platfom you have supports L2TPV3?

When I was considering using this feature I discovered that I did not have the right combination of hardware to make this work.

You mentioned the backbone is running MPLS, then you can run EoMPLS.

Cat6k does not support L2TPv3 but it does support EoMPLS.
