Incomplete ARPs for VLAN.

Hey, all.

So I recently moved a layer 3 gateway from a load balancer to my 9500 distribution switch during a network redesign. This network lives in a VRF at the distribution level. The ARPs for this network, we'll say 2.2.2.0/24 are incomplete on the distribution switches with the exception for the peer switch (i.e. the distributions can see and ping one another).

However, pings do not work and I receive this error:

Distribution 1 and 2:

Distribution1# ping 2.2.2.55 vrf Stuff
PING 2.2.2.55 (2.2.2.55): 56 data bytes
36 bytes from 2.2.2.55: Destination Host Unreachable
Request 0 timed out
36 bytes from 2.2.2.55: Destination Host Unreachable
Request 1 timed out

When I try to ping from the 9300 access layer switch to the distribution gateways I receive this error:

AccessSwitch# ping 2.2.2.1
PING 2.2.2.1 (2.2.2.1): 56 data bytes
ping: sendto 2.2.2.1 64 chars, No route to host
Request 0 timed out
ping: sendto 2.2.2.1 64 chars, No route to host
Request 0 timed out
ping: sendto 2.2.2.1 64 chars, No route to host
Request 0 timed out

I'm actually a little bit confused at this point. There is a trunk between both distributions and the access switches that allows the VLAN in question.

Hoping someone has a suggestion or two.

Thanks.

we need more information about the enviroment, how these device connection what is the ruting table information getting from.

do you see that routes are injected to routing table ?

show ip route vrf all or show ip route vrf XX should have routing information.

The host not reachable  means, either host not live or no routing available for that subnet.

Hi,

Post a diagram of how switches are interconnected, and for the interconnecting interfaces, post the output of "show spanning-tree interface f/z/z" and "show interfaces trunk".

Cristian Matei.
