Hi Experts!
Does IP Event Dampening have any effect on the routing if its configured under a switchport?
Like this:
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/6
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
switchport trunk allowed vlan 10-200
switchport mode trunk
dampening 30 100 1000 180
Some of the vlans configured on the trunk is configured with OSPF
#sh dampening interface
1 interfaces are configured with dampening.
No interface is being suppressed.
Features that are using interface dampening:
IP Routing
HSRP
#sh interfaces dampening
GigabitEthernet1/0/6
Flaps Penalty Supp ReuseTm HalfL ReuseV SuppV MaxSTm MaxP Restart
5 1574 FALSE 0 30 100 1000 180 6400 0
Thanks,
Johan

No, it is only used on interfaces with IP address configured to suppress routing updates if an interface is flapping.
It would only be active if you configured no switchport and put an IP address on it.

Hej Daniel,
So even that I get these logs, the routing is not affected?
CET: %IFDAMP-5-UPDOWN: interface GigabitEthernet1/0/6 update IP Routing state to DOWN, interface is suppressed
But I guess I should remove the dampening from our switchports...
Tack,
Johan

Yeah, remove it from the switchports.
The state would always be DOWN since IP is not active on it. In my opinion you should not be able to configure it on an interface that is not running IP.
