Greetings,

I am looking to set up a little lab and what I want to do is be able to use the Cisco CallManager 4.0 software and be able to configure a 7960 IP Phone. What problem I am running into is finding out exactly what I need to do this. I do not require a total working solution, only the basic use of Cisco CallManager and the 7960 IP phone. Can anyone help tell me what I require for this. Do I need the Cisco Media Convergence Server or can I just install teh software on a 2000 Windows server containing SQL software?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you,

The Call Manager software comes as an image that is complete including the OS and SQL. It is also tailored for specific supported servers (MCS or HP/Compaq DL320,DL380), and does a hardware check before installing. If it doesn't match up it won't load. I have read that it is possible to hack the registry, and get around this, but you won't find any official doc on doing that.
