IPC log on Cisco 2811

Hi,

I am Ashley and i got 2 routers 2811 running  on HSRP on the LAN. On the active HSRP router, I am getting the following logs continuously:

Nov  6 14:24:44.439: %IPC-5-REGPORTFAIL: Registering Control Port Id=0x3 timeout=0x6 -Process= "IPC register control port", ipl= 0, pid= 127,  -Traceback= 0z

Nov  6 14:25:45.880: %IPC-5-REGPORTFAIL: Registering Control Port Id=0x3 timeout=0x6 -Process= "IPC register control port", ipl= 0, pid= 127,  -Traceback= 0z

Nov  6 14:26:16.601: %IPC-5-REGPORTFAIL: Registering Control Port Id=0x3 timeout=0x6 -Process= "IPC register control port", ipl= 0, pid= 127,  -Traceback= 0z

Nov  6 14:29:20.937: %IPC-5-REGPORTFAIL: Registering Control Port Id=0x3 timeout=0x6 -Process= "IPC register control port", ipl= 0, pid= 127,  -Traceback= 0z

 

The IOS version is

c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T1.bin

and cpu and memory are normal. Operation on the router is normal.

However, I wanted to know what are causing these logs, software or hardware related.

Hi Ahsley,

It looks like the following DDTS is the root cause:

     CSCsy66239    %IPC-5-REGPORTFAIL: Registering Control Port Id=0x3 timeout=0x6

Symptom:

     the following message every 30 seconds:

      %IPC-5-REGPORTFAIL: Registering Control Port Id=0x3 timeout=0x6 -Process= "IPC register control port", ipl= 0, pid= 317,  -Traceback= 0x601995ECz 0x601997A4z 0x6327D464z 0x6327D448z

Workaround:

None.
