Issue with 6509 Boot up

Hello All,

I have a problem with my 6500 series switch booting up.  This is my first initial boot up so I am using the console cable to put ip information on the device.  The switch goes through the basic boot sequence but when it finishes I am unable to see Router> all I see is >.  If I type enable it gives me the # but if I press enter again it does the same thing but horizontially (ex. ####).  It's almost like the console is screwed up for some reason. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is but hopefully someone can help.

Summary of problem After the boot sequence finishes I am unable to see the regular prompt all I see is the > or # symbols.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like a faulty serial cable / serial port on PC / console port on switch.

Are you able to see the logs properly while the switch boots up?

Have you tried a different PC and a serial cable to connect to the switch?

Are you able to successfully console into any other switch / router using same cable + PC + Baud rate combination?

BR,

Shashank

Tried another cable and another laptop and it worked but one of my console ports on the 6500 was bad :-(

Thanks for the tips though Shashank.
