Hello,
I want to team nics on an HP server to two different physical 4948 layer 2 switches for redundancy. Can anyone point me in the direction of a "do's and don'ts" document? Or is it as straight forward as it sounds?
Thanks,
William

Hey William,
I have same kind of connectivity in Datacentre for our servers. The servers having two NIC's are teamed and the cables run through to two switches cisco-4500 running IOS. It is very simple as it seems. Just dont forget to team the NIC's before connecting else there will be STP loops.
But why are you looking for LACP? Are you gonna make port-channel for each NIC or you just use two cables, two nic?

You may be able to configure teaming on the server side since it's sourcing from the same server, however - your proposed configuration will fail at the switch side as the destination will be two different physical hardware.
For this configuration to work, the destination must be the same switch.

If you are teaming the NICS in active/active, then they need to be plugged into the same switch, if they are active/standby, they can be plugged into different switches.
