Latency on gateway

Hello and sorry for my english,

I have all switch connect to Cisco 3850. I have also physicals servers and Wmware.

When i ping from servers, physical or not the gateway who is on C3850, the latency is very high, it can be 1ms and next 50ms, next 100ms, next 1ms. So it is very high.

But when i ping from one server connect to Cisco 3850 to an other server behind the 3850, the ping is very good, always 1ms.

What could be the explaination ? why the ping to the 3850 is very high ?

thanks

Hello @mulbreizh

Do you check spanning-tree ? There may be issues with the switch configuration, such as spanning tree recalculations or other processes affecting the switch’s performance.

Best regards

no, i am not expert on spanning-tree, what i can test ?

#show processes cpu sorted 1min | ex 0.00 <<- this can answer, it can the SW face high CPU utilize and hence the ping is not process as fast we need

MHM

no that, the CPU is not high, 20%

Ok' try use traceroute

See how many hops between server and SW SVI

MHM

just one hop

show mac address table
check the VLAN SVI
then
show mac address table <mac of SVI> <<<- do this in all SW from SW 3850 to server

see if the Mac appear in two port or more
MHM

show processes cpu history <<- share this also
MHM

an other informations, when i am directly connect to the Cisco 3850 with cable and ping C3850, i have similar problem, latency high, sometimes 1ms, sometimes 50ms

check cpu friend again and check cpu history

MHM

CPU :

last 60 secondes : 20% max
last 60 mintes : 30% max
last 72 hours : 30% average, sometimes 60%

and an other information, it is two 3850 stack with stackwise

UP

I will update you tonight I think it is Bug
but let see what I get
thanks
