Light on switch when mac address is not learned

Hello,

So the port on a cisco switch in the configuration shows that it is UP, but there is no learned MAC address.

The light on the port is orange.

Can the light be orange because of that there is no mac address learned?

Hi there,

What is the output of:

sh int <int_ref> switchport

sh int err-dis

An orange light normally denotes an error condition.

cheers,

Seb.

Hello,

Unfortunately I can't give you the configuration. There is ISE  configured on the switch and every port has an assigned MAC address.

So if there is a different device on the port can this be causing the UP state but with no new mac learned and orange light?

Where are you seeing the UP status, the switch CLI?

Technically if it is a port-security violation, the state of the port would be DOWN/DOWN (err-disabled)

cheers,

Seb.

Yes in the CLI. It's UP/UP.

As @Leo Laohoo , then check what the duplex value has negotiated to on that switchport.

Orange LED usually means the port is in error-disable or half duplex.

Hello

Orange=usually means Half Duplex
