On a cataylst 4507, running cat4000-i9k91s-mz.122-20 code,
how can i enable the port updown message when a device join or leave a port ?
on a 6509 sup 720 , I enabled
logging event link-status default
but their is no similar command on a 4507.
current logging config.
logging buffered 64000 notifications
logging console informational
logging history notifications
logging source-interface Vlanx
logging x.x.x.x

already tried that.
I'm tried adding
snmp-server enable traps snmp authentication linkdown linkup warmstart
but don't see any messages even when I do a 'show logging"

Your logging buffered statement may be too low , try logging buffered informational .

Actually, notifications should log interface up/down messages as they are severity 5 messages and you should be OK there. Is the switch just not logging link-up/down messages or it doesn't log anything at all?

I've already have the following.
logging buffered informational
logging console informational
logging monitor informational
sh logg just give this lone message that repeats every hour

Apply the following to each interface you would like UPDOWN messages generated for:
logging event link-status
