loopguard on cisco 2960 model switch

Is it required to enable loopguard on 2960 model switch?Currently it is running on PVST mode. If to enable loopguard should we do it globally or on all access ports indivdually? What is the command for it? What is the difference having this loopguard and PVST what is the difference between those? Can u pls explain in layman terms?
