I purchased a used WS-3650-PS24-E (Also validated, show license all) to use for home and training for my CCNA. A friend converted it to smart licensing under his account. After messing around, I erased the config to start over and in the process I created my own account, de-registered, and registered the switch under my account. But, now my license is showing as LAN Base, and out of compliance. Can I convert back to a classic license? If not, how to I recovery my IP Services license?
What I've done so far from defaults, that I can recall is:
1. license smart deregister
2. license smart register token idtoken <mytoken> force

As Long as the device register back on your friend account, and he give smart License registration you should be ok
for traning purpose.

You can not have transer of ownership, so i suggest to connect with your friend and activate license on his account for this device.
as per cisco policy it was not allowed differet ownership of the device, for learning should be ok i guess here,

If i'm understanding correctly, the IP Services Classic License was pulled and placed into his smart licensing account?
If that's correct, once I register the device using his token again, can the device be converted back to a Classic License or the license transferred from his account to mine?

Thanks for the help. Learn something new everyday. I was hoping I could convert it back to a classic license, or move it to my account. I purchased this solely for that license, to be able to test anything on a switch :(

hi, try to downgrade it to Everest (16.6.8) and stay there - no smart licensing mess to deal with. You should be able to enable ipservices right-to-use from there. hopefully that works and you don't need to train on new features, which require the licenses.
