Is it possible to recover the password on the cisco router 1700 series without losing its configuration?
Where can I find the procedure to reset the password?
Thank you in advance.

No you won't as long as you follow the document. Pay particular attention to step 9 ie.
"Type configure memory or copy startup-config running-config in order to copy the nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) into memory.
Important: Do not type copy running-config startup-config or write. These commands erase your startup configuration."

this should work.... you first go into RMON and set the router to boot but not load the config. Then you can copy the start to the running, edit the password, save and reboot and you are done.
Good luck
Randy
