Hi, We got an issue with N7K. At lot of user around 10,000. The WLAN VDC connecting 4 of WLC5508 goes out of service. We'are holding a couple of N7K peering each other. We allocated a few port for this WLAN VDC. We can not even figure out what the root cause. We just need to know what the exact MAC address limit that this VDC held. Im trying to dig into doc. It seem like my WLAN VDC can hold upto 128k. After learning from one LC then MAC wil be copy to another LC which having this same VDC. Any idea is welcome. Thank you in advance. Nipat CCIE#29422

Hi,

physical capacity of the MAC table varies depending on the I/O module type:

  • M1/M2: 128K MAC addresses per forwarding engine (one or two EARL8 FEs per module) conclusion: 128K Mac total per vdc.
  • F1: 16K MAC addresses per forwarding engine (16 SOC FEs per module)
  • F2: 16K MAC addresses per forwarding engine (12 SOC FEs per module)

Hi Inayath,

Thank you for your information.

However, In case I allocation just 1 SoC (4-port) for specific VDC. What would MAC address quota I get between

"only 1 SoC quota 16k MAC"

OR

"best afford style sharing 192k MAC across various VDCs"

I'm using F2e LC

Br,

Nipat

192K MAC's per module.

Inayath
