mix 10G and 1G uplinks on a 2960s?

I'm looking at the WS-C2960S-48TD-L and have a question about the uplink ports. Is it possible to mix 10G on one uplink and 1G on the other?  The datasheet says 2x10G SFP+, 2x1G SFP so I am thinking mixing is not possible. Just wanted to see if I could get confirmation.

You cannot have a 10Gig and 1Gig in an Etherchannel.  They have to have the same speed and duplex.

That's not exactly what I was asking.  I don't want to etherchannel the connections. I just want to know if both uplinks have to be 10 or both 1 or if you can have one be 10 and the other 1.

Sorry, I misunderstood you.  Correct , you can get the switch with 2 1Gig or 2 10Gig ports and not a mix of both.

The 2960s uplink ports can either be 10 or 1 depending on what SFP you put in there... it's not a case of 'ordering' the switch with either/or.

I'm asking can I put a SFP+ in one port and an SFP in the other. If the two uplinks are not married to the same ASIC configuration then it should work. It just depends how the hardware is built.

Yes, if the uplinks are based on speed of the SFPs you put in there, then you can have a Gig and a 10Gig.

Hi guys,

I wanted to find out if any of you guys had actually been able to test and confirm that this actually works. Whereby you put a 10G  SFP in 1 port and a 1G SFP in the other port.

As long as they aren't being used as dual Etherchannel (as noted by Reza), yes it should be possible.  SPF+ ports should independently support gig or 10g.
