We use 7609 routers as MPLS PEs in our backbone network. Recently I've taken out a 8 port Giga module from the 7609 chassis while its powering on. I found that this module configuration of all its interfaces still stays when I do a "sh running"; but actually there's no more module.
In order to make this disappear,
1)should I do a "no power enable module <slot#> ?
or 2)should I reboot the 7609 ?
I'd prefer the first one if it works, of course.
Thanks.

Cisco says: the command "no power enable module" will make lost the mlodule configuration.
Someone has this experience? Will this command change the configuration ?

The "no power enable module" command will power off the module in the slot. It will not remove the config for that module. You will need to reload the switch for that to happen.

I've learned this magical command that can clear the config if module is removed. It works amazingly. It is:
#module clear-config
