As R1 and R2 are central router, is there any difference?

Hi,

If both are central routers it will all depends on the links which are getting terminated indiviudally or coming via R1 or R2 to central location,If R1 goes down then connected or routed links via R1 will be lost same case applies to R2.

so both are critical depends upon the site traffic which they are serving.

Hi,

That all depends on how the routing is done if R1 goes down then from end to end traffic flows from R2 and vice versa if R2 goes down,But the thing is as R1 and R2 are connected with separte sites so both are critical if any one of the routers goes down the sites connected with those routers also get lost the connectivity.

But question is what role they playing in your network in the existing design.

Hi Ganesh.H

The question says that Which of the two central routers (R1 and R2) is more critical for network operations and why?

Thank you for your help!

Simple answer is that R1 is more critical since 2 sites are cut-off if it goes down.  Only 1 site is potentially lost of R2 goes down.
