Multicast RP in single hop switching environment

Do we need to configure RP ? in case if there is only one L3 switch with SVIs and multicast need to be enabled in multiple vlans terminating on this switch with leaf switches just acting as L2.

To learn the mrouter by L2 switches, IP PIM is enabled in SVI interfaces on L3 interface.

Do we need RP ? as there is only one L3 hop

Good question. I think if you're using sparse mode, the L3 multicast router might still need itself defined as the RP.

In case if Multicast is not needed to be routed between different vlans, hope i don't need RP then. 

In my case multicast needs to be worked with in same vlan across multiple switch but between vlans.
