Hi Everyone!

Good Day!

I have  some problem regarding to my  c2960x switch connection. I already configured the c2960x same as to my other switch. the trunk is already up but the c2960x cannot telnet or ping. what is the possible cause on it? the connection port of my c2960x is in Gi1/0/49 and to my other switch is fa0/24. Thank you!

Hi John,

I would check below things.

1. Create a SVI and check SVI status.

2. SVI should be up and self pingable.

3. If its not up then check L2 vlan and allowed vlan on trunk.

4. Once SVI is up and pingable then we need to check trunk.

5. sh int trunk | be forward   -----> you should see vlan allowed.

6. Check the same side.

ip should be ping each if all the above fine (unless there is some ACL) .

If it not working then please provide below command.

show ip int brief | ex un

sh vlan

sh int trunk

i already config which vlan the i'll be using and the and the trunk is allowed all in my c2960x and to the other switch. Both sides are already connected but it cannot telnet and ping.

could you try this:-

Please send us the following output:

show int trunk

show run int gx/x

show span-tree detail gx/x

Whats the management ip address you have configured on this switch and also what is the ip address which you are trying to ping at the other side?

Are they in the same subnet range?

Hi John,

Can you please share the 2960x switch configuration for reference. Just to mention that you cann't ping this switch from 2960s switch if both are working in layer 2 mode. Also enable debuging on 2960x switch with "debug ip icmp" command and try to ping from a layer 3 devices or from LAN and check if there are any logs on 2960x switch for icmp echo & reply.

Kapil

Hi,

Do you have a management IP address configured on your new 2960x?

If not try adding a management IP and than try pinging that IP.
