Hi,
We have a problem with the N7K not able to detect the sfp we inserted to certain ports on the module.
For instance,
on port e1/41 to e1/44 or e2/41 to e2/43 --> it is not working. The log did not have any messages that the sfp has been inserted
the same sfp (10Gbase-SR) was inserted to e1/39 and this works.
We have port e2/44 with an sfp that works (1000base-T)

Can you advise?

Hi PF -
Can you post the following:
show run interface e1/41-44, e2/41-44
show interface e1/41-44, e2/41-44 status

Paul,
Thanks for your reply. As requested

interface Ethernet1/43
interface Ethernet1/44
interface Ethernet2/41
interface Ethernet2/42
interface Ethernet2/43

Eth1/42 -- disabled routed auto auto 1000base-T
Eth1/43 -- disabled routed auto auto 1000base-T
Eth1/44 -- disabled routed auto auto 1000base-T
E1/42 - 1/44 does not have any sfp inserted. I can't remember if we have at some stage inserted an baseT sfp and have them removed after. Anyway there is no sfp there now. Even if an SR sfp is inserted, it still shows the same as above.
Eth2/41 -- sfpAbsent routed auto auto --
Eth2/42 -- sfpAbsent routed auto auto --
Eth2/43 -- sfpAbsent routed auto auto --
Eth2/44 xxx connected 14 full a-1000 1000base-T
Same with e2/41 -2/43, when a SR sfp is inserted, the display is still --.
Sorry I have a typo in my post before.
the same sfp (10Gbase-SR) was inserted to e1/39 and this works -> should be e1/29
Thanks.

Hi PF -
So if you insert an SFP-10G-SR into e1/41 you still show "sfpAbsent" in the show interface status?
Are you doing this yourself, or are you having remote-hands do it for you? In either case, have you used the locator-led or beacon features to ensure that you are trying the correct switch, module, and port?
locator-led module 1
The command above lights the blue light on the blade.
interface e1/41
beacon
The command above causes the port-light to flash between yellow and green

Paul,
Have the locator-led and beacon on the interface on. The blue module light is on and so is the interface light flashing. After inserting the sfp (still in port e1/41), a sh int status
Eth1/41 -- sfpAbsent routed auto auto --
Thanks.

Hi -
One more question before I refer you to TAC. Can you provide a "show vdc membership"?

Hi -
Yeah, that looks fine. If the SFP works in e1/29, but not in e1/41, then there's not many possibilities left. The only possibilities I see are problem with the linecard, power restriction, or a code bug. I recommend a TAC case to see what they say.

Use the show interface command to verify that the switch detected a problem and disabled the port.
switch# show interface e1/14 e1/7 is down (errDisabled)
