NEED HELP WITH C3850 IOS UPGRADE

i have a stacked 3850 2 switches and i need to upgrade ios xe. when i check the flash it does not meet the  requirements for the new ios upgrade

 

Requirement of new ios:
Min Memory: DRAM 4096 MB Flash 2048 MB
Size: 288.95 MB (302988468 bytes)

Hi Praveen,

 

The size of the flash itself is 2048 MB (2GB), it does not mean you need to have that space to install the new IOS image, which has a size of 288.96 MB. You have plenty space (1.6 GB) to perform the IOS upgrade. 

 

Anyway, if you start the upgrade process and there is not enough space you will get an error and the upgrade process will be aborted.

Adding to my previous post and answering your question...

 

Certain amount of memory is taken from the flash as soon as the device boots up. This varies from platform to platform hence the difference is expected. For this particular switch you will see around .5 Gb less of space.
