Need to add Backplane module on 4500 switch

Hi Everyone,

We have a WS-C4510R-E switch. I need to replace current 48port POE blade with 10Gig (WS-X4606-X2-E=) on blade 4. We have two SUP 6-E on 5 &6. I also need to add new WS-X4548-RJ45V+= on blade 9. I understand that I cannot do hot swapping, so I have to take switch down. I will copy of config and IOS image.

Can you guys please guide me, if I have to very careful about anything while installing or removing module. I am going to do this first time and we have only one core switch in our production area.

Hi,

All the modules on the 4500 series switches are hot swapable, meaning you don't have to turn off the switch.  Of course, if you already have an outage window to turn off the switch, that is fine too and probably safer.  Other than make sure you to  wear a static wrist band , before taking the old bade out and put in the new one, so you don't damage the blade.
